Mount Image Pro v3
Upgrade your MIP v2 order to MIP v3 - $149
Existing licenses of MIP v2 can be upgraded to MIP v3 for $149 per license (includes a software and dongle key if a dongle was purchased with your original order).
- Login to your GetData customer account;
- Click on the "Upgrade" link for your MIP v2 purchase;
- Checkout.
Enter your MIP v3 key into the program activation window. Follow these steps to add your MIP v3 dongle key to your existing dongle.
Add my MIP v3 Dongle key to my existing MIP Dongle:
- Download and run the GetData Dongle Manager (the Dongle Manager executable requires the dongle drivers to be present in the same folder. Make sure the Rockey and HASP .dll files are in the same folder, or run the executable from the MIP v3 install folder)
- Insert your existing GetData dongle
- Transfer a MIP v3 license to your GetData dongle
- Test the Dongle on a computer which does not have the software key installed
Whats new in MIP v3:
Mount Image Pro Version 3 has been completely re-written to provide a platform upon which major new functionality can be added. The first step in this process is to add additional forensic image formats and the ability to mount logical image files. Newly added features are summarized below:

Mount Logical Image files
Mount Image Pro v3 will mount Logical Image files created by EnCase (.L01) and Access Data's FTK (.AD1).
Mount Physical Drives
Mount Image Pro v3 uses physical device mount points. Physical drives no longer need to be allocated a drive letter and the physical device can be directly referenced by other applications.
Mount GPT Drives
Mount Image Pro v3 now mounts GPT drives. The GUID Partition Table (GPT) was introduced as part of the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) initiative. GPT provides a more flexible mechanism for partitioning disks than the older Master Boot Record (MBR) partitioning scheme that has been common to PCs.
GPT disks can grow to a very large size. The number of partitions on a GPT disk is not constrained by temporary schemes such as container partitions as defined by the MBR Extended Boot Record (EBR).
For more information on GPT partitioning, visit the Microsoft FAQ: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/GPT_FAQ.mspx
Mount non 512 sector drives
Some new drives, particularly MP3 storage devices, iPods, and other removable media are moving away from the standard 512 bytes per sector, to 2048 or other sizes. Mount Image Pro v3 is now able to mount non 512 bytes per sector drives.
Mount Entire Extended Partition
An entire Extended Partition can be mounted and referenced with a drive letter to allow direct access to any unallocated space within the extended partition.
Skip Missing Image Files
The new MIP v3 mounting engine will allow you to mount an image even if some of the image segments are missing.
New Mounting Engine
The new MIP v3 mounting engine will allow us to add significant new features in the coming months.
