Mount Physical Drives

Mount Image Pro v3 uses physical device mount points. Physical drives no longer need to be allocated a drive letter and the physical device can be directly referenced by other applications.

Mount GPT Drives

Mount Image Pro v3 now mounts GPT drives. The GUID Partition Table (GPT) was introduced as part of the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) initiative. GPT provides a more flexible mechanism for partitioning disks than the older Master Boot Record (MBR) partitioning scheme that has been common to PCs.

GPT disks can grow to a very large size. The number of partitions on a GPT disk is not constrained by temporary schemes such as container partitions as defined by the MBR Extended Boot Record (EBR).

Mount non 512 sector drives

Some new drives, particularly MP3 storage devices, iPods, and other removable media are moving away from the standard 512 bytes per sector, to 2048 or other sizes. Mount Image Pro v3 is now able to mount non 512 bytes per sector drives.

Mount Entire Extended Partition

An entire Extended Partition can be mounted and referenced with a drive letter to allow direct access to any unallocated space within the extended partition.

New Mounting Engine

The new MIP v3 mounting engine will allow us to add significant new features in the coming months.
